Finding lasting solutions for poverty and suffering

Introduction

This site is designed to show the charitable work of the Nazir Welfare Trust (NWT), and to encourage people to make donations to help us in our various projects. The NWT operates as the Jamila Nazir Welfare Trust (JNWT) in Karachi, Pakistan.

Who are we?

The members of the NWT are a group of like-minded volunteers who have come together with the sole intention of working together in a humanitarian non-profit making organisation. The NWT tries to alleviate the suffering of the poor and needy in the rural areas of Pakistan such as the drought ridden regions of South Punjab, Sind and Baluchistan.

Why Pakistan?

Although there are clearly great problems of drought and poverty in other regions of the world, we feel that we can make a difference in Pakistan. The NWT not only has direct contacts with its working group of volunteers within Pakistan, but also we are in the position to monitor all activities in person by making regular field visits.

Why did we come together and begin this work?

The founder and Chair of the board of Trustees of the NWT, Mrs. Jamila Bhatti, returned to Pakistan on her retirement and found herself in the fortunate position of having the time and inclination to help some of the poor and needy. Through her personal activities others gained inspiration and entrusted her with their charitable donations for good causes. Mrs. Bhatti was in the position of being able to recognise those in need of health care.

What do we want from you?

We want the support of other like-minded people who wish to help the poor and needy through giving charitable donations, time sharing skills, contacts and experience.

What can we give?

We can give our time, skills and experience in order to insure that donations go to exactly where people want them to, and the opportunity for all who wish to participate in this necessary work.
